The socio-demographic situation of Armenia has worsened during the last decades, particularly, during 1991-2021, population decreased by around 17.1%, the average age of the population increased from 29.1 to 37.3 years, and the aging coefficient increased from 33 to 90. In this light, the role and importance of healthcare and social services is especially increasing. Among the main issues and challenges in the field are the effectiveness of the healthcare system, the provision of affordable and quality medical care and service to the population, including the socially disadvantaged and individuals of certain groups, increasing the effectiveness of prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases, etc.
