Although in recent years, Armenia has made progress towards equal rights and opportunities for women and men, the gender inequality in various fields remains concerning. Particularly, in terms of economic participation and equality of opportunity, including equality of labor force participation, pay and promotion, Armenia still has a long way to go. Among other important consequences, this is also manifested in missed opportunities for the economy, in particular, according to estimates, as a result of elimination of gender inequality, Armenia’s GDP will grow by 13-13.5% in the long term.
